In order to create with intention, Creators must consume with intention. This just doesn’t apply to consuming art, written word, music, movies, etc., but also consuming the natural world around us. We’re constantly consuming the sun or lack of it, noises from treetops or traffic, smells of fresh blooms or nourishing food. When we step away from creating, we step into consuming. This is where we can just be. This is where we remember our place within it all, why we’ve designed our intentions the way we have, and who we are as Creators.
No habit of creation could outshine the impact of consistent opportunities to consume, to be.
Action:
Design an opportunity to consume with intention today.
It could be a walk outdoors without headphones or your phone, a picnic at the park, the enjoyment of a new recipe, listening to your toddler share their words of wisdom, or sitting with a cup of tea.
The goal is to step away from creating so that you can return to it with a fresh perspective, new energy, or renewed intention.
Once a week, I spend time going to my local bookstore, picking up a couple books from the creativity aisle, finding a seat in the cafe, and spending a few hours finding gems of inspiration that almost always encourage me to get back to creating.
