Lesson: MasterClass

Thank you to the many for sharing your perspectives, which make all things the start of something great.

I am an avid MasterClass consumer. If you’re not familiar, MasterClass is a video platform where hundreds of experts share their skills and stories. From writing to cooking and filmmaking to speaking, MasterClass has provided me with a new kind of classroom that expands my knowledge base and way of learning. Through the process of enjoying dozens of wonderfully valuable MasterClasses, I’ve come to understand one important concept: Every experience you encounter contributes to your mind’s compost heap, which, over time, turns and turns until its fertile soil sprouts the creation you’ve been working toward.

Read something you hated? Good. It’s decomposing into something great. Watched something you thought was “unimpressive”? Good. It’s teaching your seeds how not to grow. Went through something you wish you hadn’t? Good! It’s going to make your soil richer than you could imagine.

All the advice you didn’t need, the days that felt unproductive, the time that seemed wasted…they’re deep inside your compost heap, waiting until the conditions are just right to help your best seeds flourish. All your failures decay into your best successes.

Lesson: Creators recognize the value of every experience, turning both good and bad into rich soil from which our creations grow.
