Lesson: Yin & Yang

To my favorite summation of what is.

The Yin Yang is not an unfamiliar symbol. Just today, I saw it patched on a teenager’s jeans, printed on the cover of a book, and reflected in my bathroom mirror. This perfectly eloquent representation of life’s balance helps me think about and understand the truisms that surround us.

As Creators, our lives are a dance of being and doing. Too much focus on doing, productivity, goal attainment, and creation leaves us empty. Empty of ideas, inspiration, encouragement, will, and purpose. Without these things, we cannot create with intention. Without the opportunity to just be, we’ll never be able to fully step into The Creator Role.

Being is to doing as consuming is to creating. It’s important to consume with as much intention as we do when we create with intention. We cannot create with intention without first and simultaneously consuming with intention. This is the nature of the Yin Yang; this is the reality of The Creator Role.

Lesson learned: Creators make time to consume with intention so that they can create with intention.
