Your majesty inspires me and your consistency reminds me: Stop worrying and get to work.

In the city of Portland, Oregon, there is one bird which reigns supreme: the mighty crow. The crow is confident; it waits for you to step aside. The crow knows its way, as if it was the one who created the path. The crow walks independently but every night, joins its brothers and sisters with a rumbling celebration. The crow, and the thousands of other birds who fly our skies, has taught me an incredibly important lesson about faith.
Encouraged by instinct, the birds wake early, search for food, build their homes, and trust that with enough of the right work, they will see the next day. They work with heads down, without noticeable worry that the worm may not be there if they keep pecking. They just keep pecking. No luck here? Let’s move to the next place. Just keep pecking. Their instincts assure them, without conscious affirmation, that they know just what to do. They have a strong trust in life’s system, unconcerned with the worm and its work, whether the next season will come, or if they’re doing things right. They just keep pecking.
In some ways, humans didn’t get quite as lucky as the majestic crow. We’re burdened with an extended sense of the future and a hyper-awareness of the interconnectedness of the system we’re part of, which leads us to worry about what’s out of our control. As a result, it’s hard to live in faith, believing that all else is working for our good, that the system has our back. When we can’t live in faith, it’s impossible for us to live in the Creator Role, where we confidently design our lives by focusing on what is in our control. That’s why we must learn from the birds, directing energy to our own decisions and actions and trusting that all else will fall into place.

Lesson learned: By minding what’s within our control and trusting that all else works out, Creators are focused and free to act toward their goals without worry.
